Project Overview
Entering the fall of 2023 we had the pleasure of working with our long time clients at CAA to create a pop-up lobby library installation in support of a partnership between Sheraton hotels and Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club. Installed at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Downtown LA, Sheraton Centre Toronto and Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, this installation lived in each hotel lobby for just over a month, giving thousands of travelers a relaxing place to enjoy a book and/or a drink from the hotel’s main bar. A launch event kicked the installation off with several authors from Reese’s Book Club speaking live, along with custom laser etched bookmarks and complimentary food and drink.
ASV fabricated 2 giant dimensional books, about 9’ tall, with LED lit shelving, a monitor for content playback and a full-color book cover that can be changed out over time. Additionally, we created 2 large reading nooks with LED lit shelves to highlight RBC books, with a cushioned seating area in the middle, and 2 curved reading benches, each with exterior LED lit shelving for additional books and knick-knacks. We carpeted the entire footprint as well, then laid down a beautiful, giant round rug right in the middle of the footprint.
The pièce de résistance, however, was a 10’ diameter custom chandelier that hung over 100 giant bookmarks, each with a slight color gradient printed onto them, that we rigged from the ceiling in each hotel lobby, above our main display. 7 concentric rings provided an interior frame to which all the bookmarks were rigged, each attached to the ring above it to create this visually stunning centerpiece to the entire display.
